Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from a different one, generally with the purpose to scam the recipient in some way. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers around the world have it. The record includes all mail servers that are allowed to send authentic messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the message will not be submitted and it'll be discarded. Whenever you use this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for every domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domains from the drop-down list and enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be approved to send messages from your emails. As an added option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the emails for it, not a third-party provider. This solution will give you the top level of security, but it is not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are handled in another place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can protect your emails by enabling the SPF security service for any domain name hosted in the account with just a few mouse-clicks. This is done from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel that is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous practical experience with these things, you won't have any kind of difficulties to activate the security. Everything that you'll have to do will be to choose a domain name from a drop-down list and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the new record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be delivered worldwide only if they are sent from that server. If your emails are taken care of by our company and not by a third-party provider, you will also be able to activate an option for email messages to be mailed only when the domain includes our MX records and the latter is the safest option.
